Do we really need 50 Shades of Gray or just a few good ones?

Just when I thought gray peaked a year ago, it’s becoming more popular than ever. I’d rather see articles about “The Best Grays” than read about how beige is so wonderful.

So what do we know about gray and do we need 50 Shades of Gray? Well I can tell you this. Gray is and can be so many looks. It can be warm, cool, happy or sad. What I personally LOVE about gray is that it is replacing beige in my color palettes. We don’t need 50 shades of gray but if we have a few, maybe 4 or 5 go to grays, that’ll be just fine!

You have to remember that I design color for the homes in South Charlotte. You’ve heard me say it before, these homes are very large and have very open floor plans.

Many times the entry way takes up the majority of the main living area and it spills into the living room, dining room, office, kitchen and family room. That’s a lot of area where the entry way or foyer, can be seen.

The color that goes in this area is crucial. For the most part, it should be neutral so it’ll coordinate with the colors in the other rooms. And it doesn’t have to be is Beige! This is where the best grays come in.

Many times I’ll design the color palette for the home, keeping the undertones in mind of course, and choose the foyer color last. This way I can ensure that the perfect color will be in the main part of your home and will also tie in and complete the color scheme for your home.
