I had a color consultation yesterday in the Cameron Woods subdivision of Charlotte, 28210 and wanted to share the colors I chose for the bedroom. Bedroom colors should be fun, romantic and cozy but be super careful that they are liked but BOTH him and her.
Again, to respect my clients colors I won’t mention the names but will certainly show you what they look like.
The color on the left is the master bedroom color. It’s by Valspar and was chosen to pickup the general tone in the wood flooring and to cozy up a very large bedroom. It does have a slight monochromatic feel but this room is grounded by a very large, dark wood sleigh bed which breaks it up nicely. The great thing about this color is #1, it’s not beige (couldn’t resist) and #2 it’s a universal color that is very likable by both sexes – it’s not too feminine or masculine.
The color on the right is actually for the master bathroom. When I design a color scheme for a home, I try to choose colors that will work with the current decor. The bathroom had a lot of white that the homeowner ‘thought’ she would have to change. She was so cute in saying, “I really hate all the white in this bathroom but will have to wait until I save about $20,000 to redo it all. Meanwhile, I’ll just live with it”. Well that didn’t sit well with me.
I try to keep my clients budget in mind when I choose color. For instance here instead of having the white work against the color I was about to pick, I just chose a color that looked awesome with it. The bathroom color on the right was inspired by a floral arrangement similar to this one in color. It had the gold color that was going in the master bedroom and I loved the way the eucalyptus looked with it so that was how I came up with the bathroom color. The monitor rep here is horrible but the color is a deep teal very similar to a green eucalyptus plant and is by Benjamin Moore.
My client LOVED the dark teal and more importantly, suddenly she was ok with the white in her bathroom. I just saved her a bathroom reno with just thinking a little and choosing the right color. Happy client and great color. What more can you ask for?
