Since I’ve been working in South Charlotte for the past five years, I’ve noticed some interesting trends in paint color. First of all, I would like to say that even before I go into paint color I want to mention that there is a substantial increase in home sales in South Charlotte which is awesome!
As part of my job I read the local tweets and posts of Charlotte Real Estate and the homes, from small to large, are moving! This is a great sign for our economy and for our community. Ok, back to paint color.
I track trends very carefully and have been noticing a swing in what type of paint color people want for their home. Five years ago, Sherwin William‘s was hot and heavy. This was a very typical color palette. They are very gold based and vary to green undertones which are very typical of the colors that a Home Stager would use or colors that you’d see in a model home. Model home? But that’s good isn’t it? No, it’s not but that’s a whole new blog post.
Clients are asking for lighter and brighter colors which brings me to Benjamin Moore. These colors lean more towards light grays, light blue and surprisingly, some smokey mauve colors which were chosen mainly for Master Bedrooms.
So you see, paint color is the way to change a house into a home but you have to find the right colors to bring out the beauty of YOUR home. The colors of Benjamin Moore are what my clients are asking for and it’s for a reason. Try these hues in your home.

What are the names of the 4 squares of color in the bottom left corner, please.
Andrea, I have a Color Ala Carte service where you can purchase any of the names of these colors for just $15 each. That service is located on the top of this blog in the black tab 🙂
Candice Olson provides free paint color ideas.
That’s great 🙂
