I am by far one who loves white. If I had my way I’d get rid of my white ceilings, trim and interior doors but that would cost a bundle. I did however, do just that when I had a smaller home in Pittsburgh and loved it.
As far as bowls or plates for your kitchen, white is really the best choice. I’ve experimented with many colors of dishes from green, blue to pink and purple floral patterns and food just looks better in white. I mean look at this photo! Even though the strawberries are in the background, red and white is just beautiful! Picture how strawberries would look on a floral plate –
Here it is on a clear plate but this is probably the worst choice because now you have to be aware of what’s UNDER your food. Since these are my plates and bowls and have view various foods on them, I can tell you that the best choice for a plate or bowl color is white. The floral plate is pretty but not everything looks good on it and as we all know, see eat with our eyes first.
It all boils down to personal preference so be thankful you have food on your plates – no matter what color they are 🙂
I only use white porcelain plates and bowls (the really basic stuff from Crate & Barrel). Food just looks best on white, and who wants to worry about coordinating their recipes with their dinnerware anyway? And when food looks great, it actually tastes better!
I was out having cocktails the other day ane the drink itself was a ugly color. I couldn’t finish it! Crazy but true! It’s gotta look good!
