These ceiling are very typical of the homes you’ll see here in South Charlotte. The tray ceiling is a tough one to choose color for. Here are some options that I’ve chosen for my clients.
Before I get into the color of the ceiling, I want to briefly mention the color of the master bedroom. First, you need to decide on a color that you both like before you can address the ceiling of course.
I’ve written about color for the master bedroom many times before. Too pink and he may not like it. Too manly and she may not like it. Here are a couple of colors that I found work well. This color is showing more pink than it actually is and I’ve found that it works better in larger bedrooms that have ample light. Very romantic color and looks beautiful if you have black or cherry wood furniture.
There are really many variations in ceiling styles and color options that you can use but for the most part, the darker colors look great for contrast and coziness.
Yay, love your post about painting the ceiling tray. Here in Orlando, people usually leaves it the standard builder white. ugh! I just convinced one of my clients to paint their ceiling tray a navy blue and their walls cream – they have dark brown furniture. I think it’s gonna look fantastic.
It really depends on so much – sometimes leaving it white or cream if fine to. Some of the homes here in South Charlotte are really large and the Master bedrooms are just gigantic! So, so see a HUGE tray ceiling in white is really an eye sore. When ceilings are that high and large, color is a must. That navy and cream combo sound dreamy!
What program is this that you have designed the room? I am looking for a program to design my bedrooms and living room.
Hi Jen – I imported a room into Keynote and used the pen tool to outline the room then filled it.
