My client in the Skyecroft subdivision of Weddington, put a fun spin on my consultation. It started off as a request for Traditional color palette (easy one) but as I got to the home, I heard the words “I’d like to have Castle colors in my home.” Now many of the homes in the Skyecroft subdivision resemble small castles from the outside so how cool would that be to take that them on the inside as well?
So my friends, not ever having lived in a Castle before or even having the chance to research Castle colors, I was scratching my head a bit wondering about possible medieval colors. But talk about perfect timing! The Renascence Festival, which is a popular annual event happens to be going on now in Huntersville, NC. The good and bad of this is unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to look at the website before I left for the consultation but fortunately, relied on my previous visits to the festival and designed a color scheme that is fit for a King!
I also found a website to Milky Way Farms that – you guess it – it’s a castle! It’s almost like my colorful Guardian Angels are reassuring me that the color palette that I chose, is spot on. Note to self, when you ask, they will answer!
Here’s the interior of the Milky Way Farm with my color palette to follow.
My palette:
The main floor I kept the undertone warm –
The upper level of the home I kept the undertone pink because of the mahogany furniture.
And a castle in not a castle unless you have a Man Cave!
Very nice, indeed! Perhaps a little inspiration from “The Tudors” is in order. 🙂 Being from Maryland, I love that you included photos of jousting, as it is our state sport.
It’s where color comes alive! So much fun 🙂
Don’t you just love when potential clients call, they tell you what they want. Then when you meet them it’s an entirely different story. Love it! This is pretty neat Donna. I visited a few castles while visiting London; one in particular stands out, Hampton Court Palace. Your selected colors are on point… Very nice.
That’s the fun part of being a Professional, you always have to be ready for plan B and sometimes plan C. Thanks Marilyn – it was a fun gig!
Hi Donna!
Lovely blog and great job with the “castle colors.” best ~ Laurel
Everyone’s home is their castle, no matter what color it is – thanks Laurel 🙂
“Castle colors” would be a new one for me, but you did a fabulous job, of course!!
Call me the Queen of the Castle – and it’s colors! Thanks so much Traci – I love a challenge.
I believe Castle Gate from Color Stories has a red undertone, too. Coincidence? Perhaps not 🙂
Oops, meant to finish w/ “fun post!”
… thanks Kelly 🙂
Ah! A color with a name chosen very wisely. Thank you fair Maiden!
I love that your client knew that she wanted castle colours – that’s pretty cool! You selected the perfect colour palette, and I especially love the blue you selected for the media room 🙂
That blue seems to be a favorite in the palette and it looks awesome in the man cave with black leather seating. Thanks so much!
