Mauve. Peach. Sea-Foam. What just came to your mind? Dated colors? These were colors from back in the day that perhaps didn’t really get a fair chance. I think these colors from the past need a second chance but this time, let’s give them some really amazing colors to pair up with so you can really see how beautiful they are.
The main colors you see in this room scene are salmon and blue. I was so excited when I saw this picture from CR Laine Furniture because salmon is the one color that I was waiting to see come into our homes since 2009. That’s a long time to wait! I guess it you wait long enough eventually any color will come back. This color makes me happy!
Here you see it paired up with blue which is pretty but I think it relates better to green. You’ll have to read my blog post (links above) to read why.
Pairing dated colors such as peach, salmon, mauve or sea-foam with the right blend of “new” colors suddenly gives your dated color scheme a very contemporary, new look. This my friends, is what color for your home is all about.
What’s in a name? I think the world still loves those colors, I do. That said, I think the same colors with updated names, could trick most of us into thinking they are fresh, new colors.
Color trickery! The world does still love these colors, we just have to remind them 🙂
Exactly! Apricot instead of peach, perhaps? I think seafoam has snuck back in under the guise of the many shades of aqua.
Finally, you are speaking my language. My walls have been peach for 18 years, and I still love it. I’m contacting you AFTER Christmas for some guidance on adding in some new colors, but, I can’t imagine my life without peach walls!
Oh dear Laura! I’ve been loving peach since 2009 – actually before that – I had it my room when I was a kid with the sea-foam carpet to match. It’s just a hard color to sell to others but it’s time has come! Let’s do it 🙂
I am so in love with the salmon and blue! I have recently changed the colors in my office to these and I LOVE it! My drapes are a peachy/salmon silk and the area rug is mainly a soft blue background accented in the salmon with a small hint of pale green. I still have lots I want to do in my office but it will have to wait until after the holidays! As always….love reading your post!
