Paint Color for an Open Floor Plan

QUICK COLOR TIP: Have a home with an open floor plan? This is a good time to think about how your colors will flow as you transition from room to room.

The colors for the core of the home such as the foyer, kitchen, living, dining and family room should all share the same undertone. This will unite them as a palette.

Once you get to rooms on the second floor or bedrooms, you can choose colors from an unrelated palette. Pick a neutral color for your upper hallway to tie it all in.

  1. Funny, the two greens (in the upper left corner) are very similar to my kitchen and living room, which are adjacent.
