Waltonwood Senior Living, is an upscale Senior living community that will be coming to Charlotte. As I pass the construction on Providence Road in South Charlotte I can’t help but think what colors will the people living there choose for their home.
Will they keep it Contractor’s Beige? Will someone choose a minty green? Will someone just choose beige because they just don’t know what color palette to use? Or will the new residents have the opportunity to choose a purple if they please (yes, there are beautiful purples like Magic Potion from Benjamin Moore that would look beautiful in a Master Bedroom.)
Perhaps the best compromise would be to welcome a new lifestyle while still reminiscent of the colors you had in your previous homes, the colors that YOU love.
Keep in mind that colors have changed over the years. The greens we liked back then are different now. You can still incorporate the looks you love and modernize them with some new hues to call the look your own.
If you’re afraid to use color than of course you can use it in just you accessories until you acclimate to your surroundings. You’ll know what color you’ll want in your home.
For instance, blues are soft and gray yet navy and bolder blues are popular as well. You’ll also need to know how to make the colors flow from your kitchen color to your living room. It’s all about those undertones!
I looked at some pictures from the Waltonwood in the Cary Parkway location and was disappointed in the decor and color choices they had there. The decor seemed dated, colors too wishy-washy and the rug patterns were a bit too dizzying for me.
Color and your surroundings will play a huge role on how you feel and adjust to your new community living. Do you want to see life-less gray walls, boring beige or hospital white? Heavens no! Pretty surroundings will make you happy and able to adjust to your new community.
Of course my colorful mind went into high gear and I thought, what colors would I like to see if I lived in a Senior Living Community? Or better yet, what colors would I offer to someone who just bought a home in Waltonwood and was looking for the perfect color scheme? Here’s what I came up with.
The Coastal Color Palette
Number one, hands down, the Coastal Color Palette is a must! It’s soft, soothing, relaxing and is so very reminiscent of the trips to the coast – where your coast was. Just beautiful and good for both the mind and eye.
Why does the Coastal Color Palette work? For so many reasons. Just about everyone is in love with blue. It’s appealing to both men and women. The hues in this palette can be changed to nautical, classic or whimsical depending on how you utilize your accessories.
The flooring is light and smooth – no tripping – and visually there are no distracting patterns for the people who have issues with sight.
The Classic Color Palette
Like a classic Martini, these colors are timeless. This palette is soft on the eyes and non reflective in our Southern light. Which reminds me, using a flat sheen with this color palette will really class it up!
Southern Charm Palette
Open your windows and let the warm come in! That’s what this color palette feels like. Sunny warm yellow combined with warm gray – very sophisticated and welcoming don’t you say?
