I just spent several days on a beach in Florida and I’m just going coastal crazy now! Here is a super easy way to be inspired by the beach. Get a bucket, walk to the beach, grab several handfuls of shells look at the colors. They may seem just white and beige to you but look really close to the details in the shells. You’ll find rich spicy browns and gorgeous grays. Well look, here’s what I found:

Donna you are so right about the color of shells and have picked some nice ones for your palette above. What I like also is to look inside some shells and discover the many iridescent colors that could work in an accessories kind of play or in accent areas such as art niches and tray ceilings. I have even used them in my marbling, wood graining, faux metals and yes even in my wall art and mural work. Its amazing what these little jewels of the sea can teach you about color after all nature is what educates artists in the first place don’t you think?
