What I’ve Learned About Color Now That I Own Four Cats

Color  and decor choices are important if you own cats

I’ve been in the interior design business for a really long time but it wasn’t until recently that I now have to consider color and decor choices since I own four cats. I’ve learned a new thing!

Everyone knows that most cats love sleeping with their owner, which just happens to be me. This is all fine and dandy but four cats, two adults and one Queens size bed a make for a really tight squeeze when one is trying to get a proper nights sleep. Besides, who’s bed is this anyway?

If that wasn’t dilemma enough, I know realize that my beautiful bedding I once had is now a thing of the past. You know the beautiful bedding I’m talking about?

  • The beautiful bedding with the great texture and silky fabrics.
  • The beautiful bedding that turn to shreds when four cats with sharp nails go running across your bed at 50 miles an hour.
  • The beautiful bedding that has stains on it from the conveniently placed hair ball up chuck.
  • The beautiful bedding that has splatter marks on it when the old cats has a sneezing attack.
  • The beautiful bedding that has a weird smell to it because the kitten  eats her treats on the bed but doesn’t chew like a lady.
  • Oh and the beautiful bedding that you can’t put in the washing machine because it’s too big or has to be dry cleaned. Good by beautiful bedding.

So that was a difficult change to make, especially for me, since I’m a very visual person. My house isn’t a fancy showcase by any means but I certainly love to have pretty things which is now being compromised.

A bed is really a playground for cats.

I couldn’t even take decent pictures because the cats were moving that fast!

  • I now know that owning four cats means you can’t have fabric on the bed that a claw can get snagged on.
  • I now know that owning four cats means you’ll have cat hair all over the place even if you brush your cats often.
  • I now know that owning four cats means you will have to wash ALL your bedding once a week so get something that will fit in your machine and washes well.
  • I now know that owning four cats means that I can’t have that pretty solid lime green comforter I love because it stains.
  • I now know that owning four cats means white sheets are not an option.
  • I now know that owning four cats means earth tones can camouflage a stain until it’s washday.
  • I now know that owning four cats means “champagne or taupe” is a very cat friendly color.
  • I now know that owning four cats means taupe is a great color choice when you have gray cats.
  • I now know that owning four cats means having beautiful colors on my bed is completly out of the question.
  • I now know that when you buy a really soft blanket, it feels really good and you have to knead on it.
  • I now know that owning for cats mean my bed will never look made.
  • I now know that owning four cats means I have to hide my beautiful red button tufted decorative pillow because Levi thinks it’s fun to pull the buttons off.
  • I now know that owning four cats means that my blankets are now a playground.
  • I now know that owning four cats means my blankets have to be thick enough to protect my toes from being bitten.
  •  I now know that owning four cats means a lot of work, a switch in bedroom decor, compromising my sleeping comfort and the occasions choking on a miscellaneous cat hair.
  • I now know that owning four cats means my life has changed and wouldn’t trade it for the world!
