I’m shopping for a new sofa and it’s fun and frustrating at the same time! The only two choices as far as color go is a neutral (yuk) and a color (yay). Sound obvious right? So do I choose an “Oatmeal” color to be safe and classic or choose a color because what I have in mind is just so darn amazing?
Let’s list the pros and cons of choosing a neutral:
- It’s safe
- It’ll go with any wall color I have
- I can add some very colorful pillows with great texture
- It’ll match the multi colored area rug I have
- It’ll brighten and lighten the room
- It’s harder to keep clean
- It’s a bit boring for a Color Expert
- Cat fur! I have four cats and two are dark gray
- Not so family friendly as far as color goes
Ok now the pros and cons about choosing a color:
- It’s far more exciting then a neutral
- It’ll be more forgiving as far as stains from spills or cats
- It’ll look great with my wall color
- Choosing color makes me happy
- Nobody else I now has this color sofa (not telling yet)
- It’ll had “wow” to my living room
- Cat and family friendly
- It will coordinate with my multi colored area rug
Stay tuned and check back here to see the updates. I need to move quickly if I want to have my living room ready for the Holiday. Wish me luck!
You can pull this one off, you’re a pro at this. Personally I like the color but I can’t see what else is going on in the room either
Well that’s the trick Arthur. I have a open floor plan and my wall color is similar to the patina green you find on copper. I do have a hue in mind 🙂
Fantastic of course you’re the one I would call on I am surprised you have not received any calls from my kneck of the woods…..yet…..I may have to do another blog post about you 😉
You’re in Florida right? I just got MANY requests from clients in Florida asking for a coastal color palette. Was that you? Thanks if it was 😉
As we all know how difficult it would be for YOU to go too neutral … I think it’s a safe bet to say the only surprise will be what wonderful colors we’ll see in that sofa! Now get going … and bring that thing home! 🙂
Yes!! Cheryl I will but I have to order it first and that will take about 8 weeks. Oh I don’t like waiting for beautiful [:-[
AHhhh … me either!
