Napa Cabbage is used as a sign of prosperity in China. What a great reason to have these hues in your home. Think symbolism. Where to put these colors? Definitely the office where business decisions are made, bills are written and financial planning takes place.
Did you know that Kale boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells? Where to put these colors? These colors would look and feel great in a family room. A room where the family gathers to read, watch TV or just be together. They are great universal colors for the entire family to enjoy.
Ginger is known as a stomach settler and aids in digestion. Have an upset belly? Chew on some ginger. Ginger candy works well too. Where to put these colors? These neutrals can really go anywhere in the home so try them in a room that just needs a little settling.
Both tuna and salmon are a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids and protein. Where to put these colors? These are bright ones! I’d use them in the kids room. Use the orange and pink as accent colors.
We all know how healthy Green Tea is. I think many of us already have this green somewhere in the home and doesn’t it feel relaxing? Where to put these colors? This color should definitely go in the bedroom. It’s also a great choice for a guest room since it’s a non-gender specific hue and accommodating to most decors.
Not everyone likes fish but it’s an important food group to have in the diet. Living a Holistic lifestyle is about balance and choosing the right food groups to better and improve our health. Choose the fish of your choice and also notice the color. Look at all the colors that are in this particular fish! Where to put these colors? The light gray and blue would be a great choice for a living room. Add the Mauve, yes I said Mauve, as an accent in drapery and decor.
Healthy living is all about moderation. Have a little bit of everything in all food groups but keep portion size in mind. Where to put these colors? How fun would it be to have these colors in a Man Cave! These colors are playful and strong enough to stand up to the manliest of Man Caves.
Don’t these colors look great? And the wonderful thing about these colors is that when you see them, you’ll think about where they came from. Every time you see this green and brown combo you’ll think about Mint Chocolate Chip ice-cream and in my eyes, that’s a good thing!
Choose your colors with intent in mind. What atmosphere do you want to create in your home? Healthy? Happy? Holistic? Then deliberately choose color that will take you in that direction.
Great ideas, Donna and what an interesting concept. I’ve never thought about using food’s holistic aspects for color choice in the home. This is definitely something for me to play with.
Thanks Ajayla! I’ll be posting a lot about Holistic Hues for the home. I think we should be choose color for our home to include a healthy lifestyle. Color can do that 🙂
