Listen up Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams, I know you’re listening. How can you NOT have this already? Or something even close to it? Even Valspar is on board with their Sixth Sense line. It’s time to update your color palettes and names. I can help, I am a Virtual Designer 🙂
So back to color. If I were a paint company I would have had a Holistic Color Collection, Holistic Hues, whatever you want to call it, out years ago. Why? Because people need inner peace not only within themselves but in their home.
Look at what people are putting in their homes, crystals, salt lamps, candles, organic food, natural elements and textures in the home, home made cleaning products, coconut oil this, coconut oil that, gluten free everything. Why do we NOT have a natural paint color collection yet? There are even low or zero VOC paints! Get on the design board and start creating colors that people actually want to have in their home.
How exciting would it be to have a new line of colors to promote and use for my clients – that would be virtual clients with a reach just about anywhere.
I’m not going to mention any particular company but your. colors. are. dated. Paint decks should be like jeans. You use them for a few years but styles change so you update the look. Update YOUR look!!!!!!!
Well I suspect that very shortly, after this post (mark the date) that one, if not all, of the major paint companies will see the light and start a similar line.
For example:
Green Tea. We all know the benefits of Green Tea. As a matter of fact, Valspar is already in the lead on this one because I have my living room painted Green Tea Leaves. Great name.
Off point just a bit: You’ve seen me write about how paint color looks so different on the monitor verses on the home right? Well Green Tea Leaves is a great example of that.
Here, Green Tea Leaves looks muted and dated. In my living room, it looks amazing and that’s because of the lighting. So weird!
I know Sherwin Williams has Smokey Salmon . They also have Meditative and Restful which are perfect for this collection – just by name though.
See? Great names but the colors, although representative of the name, are not so likable for the home.
I have TONS of ideas but I know the paint company gurus have wandering eyes for their ideas. Ugg.
Well, I’ll have part two of this post at another time. So, what do you think? Don’t you think it’s time to get the RIGHT colors in our homes? Let’s do this.
