I have to admit, I was excited when I saw “Rose Quartz” as ONE of Pantone’s “Color of The Year?” but then got totally bummed when I saw “Serenity” yet another blue.
They went from a crystal to a bladder control undergarment – sorry but that’s all I could think of when I saw “Serenity.” Here’s what they should have done.
Just follow through. That’s all they should have done. Stay on the same page as Rose Quartz. If they looked at the color trends and saw that Malachite has been a popular (crystal) color for a while now as seen in High Point Market, The largest Furnishings Trade show in the world, they could have put 2+2 together and come up with a Crystal duo instead of trying to be politically correct and go with a gender blur of a choice.
This was so obvious that a school kid could have chosen this palette. After all, not only would the crystal choice been cool but these two crystals go one step further and represent the Heart Chakra. LOVE!!!!
- “Feeling of respite and relaxation?” How about LOVE?
- “A sense of order and peace? How about LOVE?
- “Creates balance?” How about creating LOVE?
- “Balance between warm and cool?” Who cares. How about LOVE?
- “Blurred gender lines?” Really? How about LOVE??????
So why is this a better choice than what Pantone chose? Because it’s reprints love. If they chose LOVE that would have all been under the same umbrella as their soft and squishy definition they have.
If the world have more LOVE then maybe some of these shootings and horrible things wouldn’t be so prominent?
“You will always win when you choose love.”
Plus, Rose Quartz and Malachite are complementary colors. They are meant to be together. Can you also imagine all the cool crystal imagery that could have gone with it in an advertising campaign?
You would have seen this:
instead of this – and this packaging happens to be the same colors!!!!! I wonder where they really got there inspiration from? Time to get a “younger” Color Director perhaps?
I’m also pro Rose;-)
Pro Rose … I like that!
