An Androgynous Color Palette for The Bedroom

I’ve been talking  about purple for a really, really long time. Why do I think it’s a great color for the bedroom? Come see.

an androgynous color for the bedroom

The first two colors that will probably come to your mind when thinking about a color for your bedroom is either blue or gray.

Most men thing that blue is the best color since sliced bread and many women love gray because it goes with everything and it’s a color that’s neither a masculine or feminine color which is perfect for the bedroom. However, blue SO very typical and gray is SO very boring.

How about something sexy? After all, it’s a bedroom color.

This is where purple comes in. Like  gray, it is neither a masculine nor a feminine color which in itself, makes it a perfect bedroom color where man and woman share a room.

Now don’t go Disney and go too purple! Here are some suggestions from Sherwin Williams that are light enough and even go into the blue you that you all love so much.

See the grayish color in the top left? It teeters between a gray and purple – so sexy!!! Sensitive Tint SW 6267 is similar to that. Here, you can add accents of blue, brown and even a little more purple with decor for your room.

I’d use Sensitive Tint on my the walls in my bedroom, the brown for the ceiling (not a fan of the big white tray ceiling) and either bring the purple or darker blue into the bathroom suite.

This is a very unique color combination and it has a very androgynous appeal. Try it – you’l like it!
