Classic Coastal Colors For The Home With A Twist of Lavender

When you say “Coastal Colors” certain hues come to mind. However, there are so many more colors that can be found at the beach from pale yellows to lavender.

I wrote about coastal colors many, many times here on my blog. So what’s so different about this color palette?

See the lavender? You don’t normally thing of lavender when coastal colors come to mind. However, think about this. Ever see the beach at sunrise or sunset? Look at the sky – that’s where you’ll see a beautiful array of lavender. Also take note of the shells. One of the clam shells I believed it is, is known as the Wampum. On the inside of that particular clam you’ll see streaking of a beautiful splash of lavender. The Long Island beaches were covered with such clams – just gorgeous.

So if you’re thinking about choosing coastal colors for your home, think outside the box just a little. Let’s break away from the typical blue/gray that has now saturated the home. Bring in more yellows, greens and lavender to the mix. It’s just gorgeous!

Note: This is an actual color palette that I designed for a Virtual Client using Behr colors. If you want the names of this palette, please email me at: DecoratingbyDonna@mac.com

what type of coastal colors are best for my floor tiles & wall tiles ?

Do you mean which colors would be best? That would depend on where you live. If you’re by the beach, maybe something light. If you’re by a lake, maybe something that has more earth tones or more greens. That would really depend on the look of your home to tie it all in. Grout color would be important here as well.

I would think about a color that has a little more contrast. What about a spicy orange or green? Try pulling in one of the colors for your bedding from the Master to tie it in.
