Pingback: A Peek Into What SHOULD Be In Our Homes For 2018 | Decorating by Donna • Color Expert
What would be a good color to decorate my daughter’s bedroom? She suffers from Borderline personality disorder (depression and anxiety). She needs to some major healing, to feel secure, and confident. I love the idea of bringing the chakra colors into the home!
That depends on how old she is. I find that lavenders and warm pinks – not blue pinks – are really helpful. Try INNOCENCE SW 6302
She is 21….sorry I should have mentioned that. I have noticed since I have been going through the house getting rid of things I no longer want or use has been making me feel so much better. We have been in our home for a little over a year and I have not had the time to really make it homey.
Making a house feel homey is key. I remember when I was a kid living at home I used to rearrange my room about once a month and I just loved it – it was like I moved into a new apartment every month.
Since your daughter is 21, you may want to look at pink that is a little more on the Dusty Rose side. I would also add green accents (both pink and green are associated with the Heart Chakra.) Both these colors are very calming but choose ones that are muted and soft not bright and saturated. Valspar has a great selection of greens in their Historic Preservation collection. Let your daughter pick the colors she’s attracted to and see which one she picks 🙂
Sorry I hit enter before I should have. I have been trying to get my daughter to do something different in her room to help with her depression/anxiety issues. Sometimes she does really well with keeping her room decluttered and other times not so much (depending on if the depression is bad or not). Thank you so much for your recommendation!!
That’s ok! Also have her set up a little fish tank with plants in it. I just did that last week (since I can’t keep a Beta fish alive) and I love it! It’s so soothing to have live greenery in the room. She can create her own little world in the tank with succulents, shells and any other little decorations she might want to add in there. Lowe’s has a great LED desk lamp for $19 that would be perfect lighting for the plants and it doesn’t burn hot because of the LED’s. Try it and let me know.
