Well the end of the year is almost here and now is the time when I reflect on what happened in 2017 and what to look forward to in 2018 for color.

While I wait for your thoughts, I’ll share mine.

Over the last several years I left the Interior Design world. Although tons of fun and the connections were great, I stopped going to High Point Furniture Market and joining in all the niches that seemed so pointless. Why? Because I didn’t really see any trends there that were amazing enough to be excited about. It’s seems like the colors were the same old stuff, the water-color wallpapers and designs which were hideous, the high praise of the cold white kitchen and the overall feel of the Designers seemed so insentient.

What would I have loved to see?

I noticed some Designers just totally lost themselves in the hustle and bustle of the industry. I’ve noticed some Designers found themselves and incorporated their feelings into the work that they do which is great. I also noticed some of the older Designers pumping out the same old stuff year after year after year. The whole scenario just felt so fake.

I broke away from all the fake Designers, Color Experts that just pumped out the color trends the little rookies who just followed the lost ones and just did my own thing based on feelings and energy that should be in our home. I tapped into the power of color. Designing Holistic colors and talking about how colors can change the FEEL of the home was my #1 concern.

Introducing Chakra colors into the home so the home would naturally balance the household was and still is my target. This was so, so wonderful for 2017 and many of my clients craved this for their home.

Not following the lame “Color of the Year” by all the people who are drinking the cool-aid with the larger paint companies and just having a home colder than Ice Blue and all the horrible Grays people are STILL using in the home as MAIN colors.

Color. Life. Feelings. Energy. Love. Joy. Empowerment. Family. THIS is what I want in our homes not the colors that everyone else has in their home because they don’t know what else to choose. Luckily, this can be changed.
