Ok color, do your thing! Lol, seriously though, why don’t we let color make a statement in the room instead of the decor for a change? Sure the two work together but since your wall space is the biggest part of your room, let it rule!

Why work harder? Your walls makeup 90% of your room space, put it to good use with color.
I have so much to say about this room scene and you can see some notes that I placed on the graphic. First of all thank you Sherwin Williams for the room scene, such a great way to visualize color.
Ok, so here we have a typical living room with ample windows, a fireplace, bookshelves, and some basic decor. The decor is neutral of course because since this is a room scene from Sherwin Williams, the decor needs to be neutral so you can paint away!
Let’s start with the wall color. No matter which color you choose, let it make a statement or like I said in the title, let it rule your room. The walls in your home make up most of your house to why not work easier not harder as they say? Let the color of your walls dictate the feeling and look of your home.
Here I have Vintage Vessel SW9050 on the walls. Super great color and yes, definitely rules the room. Since this will be your main color, the rest should be less and softer.
The fireplace is a soft white and I do not use nor like white in my designs. It’s not that white doesn’t look great but to me and other sensitive people, it feels too harsh. You can still get the look without using a white-white. I use soft white or ivory on the ceilings, trim and bookcases. The bookcases may have color on them as well but this app didn’t allow me to change the bookcase color without changing the fireplace color as well.
Speaking of fireplace, a HUGE peeve of mine is having a TV over the fireplace. Not only is it not good for the TV if you use the fireplace but it looks like an eyesore, at least to me.
There is also some random ceiling mounted lighting fixture and that is just a poor choice even for these rooms scapes. Anyway, we are talking about color here but I thought I’d mention a few things that irked me in the SW room scenes, which they were more simple, just basic rooms, basic furniture. Any-who, it is what it is.
I am happy to say that I now see the gray trend petering out. People are replacing drab neutrals with color that feels good and you know that makes me happy!
So, if you live in a state where rain and clouds are the norm, use substantial color in your home to compensate. It will make a huge difference in not only how the home feels but how YOU feel in your home.
