How To Find The Perfect Color Fit For Your Home

Finding color for your home is like finding the perfect pair of jeans; you try a whole bunch until you find some that fit. Paint color is the same but it doesn’t have to be.

When I design color for the home I start with the client of course. Connecting with and tapping into what the client wants is key to creating a successful color palette. Have depression? Watch those blues! Have ADHD? Watch those high-energy colors? Sensitive to color? Be careful of saturated colors!

Also at this point, the coastal color palette is gorgeous, yes but let’s move on to some colors that have some impact. You can blend your love of coastal colors with some colors that perhaps you have given any consideration because you just didn’t know that it would fit into the design of your home. See the office and dining room colors? Great colors and two that aren’t seen often in the home. I love the dark, rich eggplant color of the office that would probably be fairly close to the dining room. Look how unique those colors are together! The perfect fit actually.

If you have an open floor plan, the living room, dining room, and kitchen will all be seen at once. Tie those rooms together with a warm, creamy neutral like what I have labeled the foyer color.

You CAN have gorgeous color in your home! Create color trends, don’t follow them. Choose colors that feel good to you every time you walk into the room.
