The holidays can be rough for some. For me, I find comfort in working with color. I design color palettes for a living, I work with chakra colors and I even have my own box of crayons just because it’s so darn fun to color. Anyway, here are some colors that I find uplifting. Use them however you feel drawn to – clothes, paint, decor, color chips, markers – just use color, the colors that you’re drawn to. Your senses will guide you to the colors that you need.

Donna,
I have a formal dining room that has indigo painted down to the chair rail and white below it, and it opens to my entry foyer that is painted a light gray. The foyer leads to two arches, side by side, in which one goes into the kitchen and one into the living room. Do you think indigo would be a good color to paint on the wall that that has the arches and leads into those two rooms, with the kitchen and living room painted light blue-gray? There would be gray on some of the walls that are in the hall that would meet up with the indigo. I thought this would give a more dramatic look coming into the front of the house, but maybe it would look too chopped up. Thank you for your help in this confusing matter.
Hi Annette, it could be ok if the blues had the same undertone. Also, Indigo arches would be the focal point, are you ok with that? It may be too chopped up, I’d have to see a photo of it to be sure. Maybe a lighter blue instead of Indigo or even a darker gray?
Thank you so much Donna for your ideas. Maybe, it’s better not to try to make the arches a focal point by painting them different from the rest of the hall because of the chopped up look. Maybe, just make the kitchen and living room stand out with a medium to dark blue look to emphasize them–something in the blue family of indigo, but not as dark. What do you think?
I would really need to see what the arches look like but maybe it’s better to blend instead. I think you’ll know what to do!
