The color I chose for my guest room has a dual purpose, one to get a new look for the spring and two, to welcome my 94-year-old day home to live with me.
So what color does a 94-year-old man like? I have no idea but I do know that it has to be calming, fresh, and clean looking. It HAS to feel welcoming.
Please remind me to hire a painter next time I feel like updating the color in my home! Wow, painting is no easy feat; I think I’ll just stick to choosing the color and let someone else paint.
All joking aside, I love the colors in my home, and I do get the itch to repaint when spring comes. My guestroom situation is slightly different, so repainting was definitely in order.
I have this lovely light minty green in the guest room, and it looked so beautiful with the color palette in my home. However, somewhere in the near future, my 94-year-old dad is coming to live with me, and I wanted to change the room’s vibe. So, the paint decks came out!
So what color does a 94-year-old man like? Who knows! I had to put my thinking cap on for this one. So, my intuitive self tapped into that space where I merged with his energy and sensed what color would be best for dear old dad.
I chose blue, which is so like me because I’m not a blue person; I like green which I have in the rest of my house. Why blue? I had to get in my dad’s mind and sense what he needed. I KNOW he needs to calm down because he has many health problems and recently suffered some losses and tremendous stress. BUT, I had to be careful which blue I chose.
Too cool and blue is depressing. Too muted or too much gray in it; it’s depressing. Too much yellow, and it will be close to the minty green I had in there before. Too dark, and it would close in the room and feel like a cave. Too light, and it would not be seen by his aged eyes or appear like a baby color. So what blue is the one?
Tradewind Blue HG SW3307 or Tradwind 6218. Oddly, I had a blue already picked out, which I chose while I was in my guestroom. By the time I got to Lowe’s, something had told me to select another blue. No! Don’t ever choose a color while IN Lowe’s! The lighting is a trickster to your color. Now what?
Well, this is where my “Colorful Clairvoyancy” comes in. I opened my third eye and let it choose the color for me. I was instantly drawn to one section on display, grabbed it, and ordered a gallon of it.
Luckily when I got home, I found out that I could not have picked a better color. This is the shower curtain in the guest bath, and the light blue in the curtain is nearly identical to the blue I chose.
The painting is stared and it looks beautiful, and I know dad will love it!
