How Can I Make My Coastal Bedroom More Cozy?

Color really comes into play here. I know so many of you really love the coastal color palette but as we begin to feel the cooler weather, somehow those coastal hues don’t feel so cozy. How can we update our coastal bedroom to feel cozy? Come see.

WALL COLOR:  We all know that the quickest way to change up a room is to add an awesome wall color. Here, I have Benjamin Moore’s Warm Sunglow just make sure it matches your flooring.

FLOORING: Here I have a basic wide plank wood flooring. I don’t know about you but I LOVE, LOVE this flooring! It reminds me of a cozy cabin up in the mountains somewhere and it doesn’t get any cozier than that.

BEDDING: Here you see where the coastal colors are. Some of the bedding we have can really add up to big money and to replace an entire bed set is not feasible. So, let’s work with it. You can always add to the bedding and change out the pillows to warm those coastal colors up a bit.

PILLOWS: Keeping your new wall color and flooring in mind, stay with the earth tones. Remember the brown and blue combos back in the day? Well, that’s what I’m doing here. I am keeping the blue from the coastal color palette you have and bringing in browns to warm it up.

AREA RUG: Since your flooring is a darker brown, keep your area rugs a little on the light side so you have contrast. Tans would be a great choice.

CURTAINS:  Keep your curtains and area rug neutral if you can. This way if you want to swing back to full coastal in the Spring, you’re curtains and area rug will be fine.

THROW PILLOWS: So easy! Here you can purchase as many pillows as you wish in all earth tones and just throw them on the bed. Adding textures here will be great too.

THROW BLANKET: It’s always nice to have a throw at the end of the bed or over the chair when it gets a little chilly. Plus it helps soften those edges in a room which helps it look cozy.

DECOR: Here feel free to add texture, more earth tones, height and anything else to fill in the spaces in your room. Adding accessories to a room just fills it up with cozy.

Now when Springtime rolls back in, take out all these elements except the curtains, area rug, and bedding. Take out the decor and lighten up the room both visually and with color.
