If you asked me what’s my style when it comes to homes and decor I’d say give me a cabin in the woods! You can keep your waterfront properties and fancy smanchy homes in California and the million dollar McMansions don’t impress me at all. Show me a log cabin nestled in between some pine trees and I’d be in heaven. See this bedroom picture? This is me to the T!
Now that you see I have a very strong passion for cabins, let’s talk color for these woodsy beauties.
What colors do you think of when you think of cabin colors? Dark green, blue, red and rust right? Well yea, outdoorsy, Eddie Bauer colors right? Right. I love this color palette and if I had a cabin in the woods I wouldn’t hesitate a second about any of these colors.
But what if you wanted something different? What if you still wanted the perfect cabin colors but just not the typical cabin colors? Which colors would you choose? Let’s think about this for a minute.
As a Color Expert, I always like to think outside the box when it comes to color. Now that we know the colors that are typical of the rustic home, what colors can we choose that are not so typical? Looking at this gorgeous bathroom I found on Houzz designed by Katherine Long, you’ll notice that again we have a very dark and cozy look here.
Let’s say you didn’t want such a dark color for the walls. What lighter colors could you use but not distract too far from the look of the home? Remember to keep the colors natural like something you’d find in nature. Think about wood grains, moss on a tree, pine cones, wild flowers, stones and even animals. Aren’t these pretty?

Where did the rustic lantern cone from. Would like to purchase.
I’m sorry, I have no idea.
