Jewel tones are PERFECT for small bathrooms. The rich, saturated hues of sapphires, rubies, and emeralds make small rooms cozy, classic, and intriguing. Jewel tones are visually appealing and, on an emotional level, make you feel like you are sitting on a throne.

Why are jewel tones good for small bathrooms? 

Who doesn’t love a rich color? Look at the blue, red, and green. Can’t decide on a color? The color of black onyx is a classic look and one I’ve used several times for my clients. Not only that, these colors are great for everyone, not just men, not just women. They are very universal!

Will jewel tones make my small bathroom look smaller?

Oh, the illusion of color! Your bathroom is already small, so why not just give it a great color? Do you think painting your bathroom white will make it look bigger? I’d rather see a small room with amazing color than see a boring white room that looks like you’ve just stepped into a hospital room. Let’s keep these rooms exciting, not boring.

Will I make the right choice?

Just choose one and go for it! I’ve noticed that so, so many Designers choose white or gray because they CAN’T choose a color. They feel white and lifeless gray is safe and will go with everything. Sure it’s more challenging to choose a color for a room because there are several deciding factors that go into that decision. Just know if you get stuck, I can always help you. Keep your flooring and tile in mind when you choose your bathroom color. It’s about those undertones.

What about the ceiling in my small bathroom? Should it be white?

No! The joy of painting these small spaces is that you can paint right over the ceiling. I do this for just about every one of my clients, my home included. When you have a room where all the walls and ceiling are painted the same color, it makes the room appear like a larger space. I truly believe that soon, white ceilings will be a thing of the past. The benefit? No cutting in anymore 🙂
